Messages stuck in sendmail queue

I just had a problem that I've never seen before, and don't see in the forums either. I am running Scalix 11.0.2.1 on CentOS 4.4 and it appears to have started at an unknown time this morning.

Background: I have MailScanner setup to scan the messages for spam and viruses, etc. To do this I have set SMTP_FILTER=TRUE in smtpd.conf and thus, all messages get piped through sendmail to be processed.

Problem: Today, I had over 500 messages that were sitting in the sendmail outbound queue, their status listed as:

Code: Select all

ldapsx map: lookup (twbowden.com@thebigbookstore.com): deferred

I restarted the MailScanner and sendmail services but didn't have any luck. I restarted the scalix services (via 'service scalix restart') but that didn't have any effect either. I then restarted the server, and once it was up and running again, everything was processing through properly, and clearing out the backlog of messages.

Anyone know what this message means, what caused it, what logs I could look in to find more details, etc?

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Mito

Hi Mito!

Check the fatal log, I feel the Service Router might be in trouble which started again after
the Server was restarted.

The sendmail log could be found at /var/log/mailog.

Thanks,
