Service Router Mapper Timeout

Is this timeout value configurable? I ask because occasionally ClamAV takes too long to scan high-compression-ratio archives which causes a Service Router error [OM 5181] for the message in question. I'm quite sure at this point that this is a timeout. The message is then put on the ERROR queue when the Service Router returns with error [OM 5183] and the message can not be resubmitted successfully.
Is there a work around for this issue?
