Multiple instances with EE ?

Postby a.schild » Thu Mar 22, 2007 5:01 am

Hello,

in the documentation about the enterprise edition, it is mentioned that we can have multiple instances on one physical server.

Does this means that we can have two completely separated companies on one physical server ?
And they do not share anything (Global address books etc. )

I already asked this twice at info@scalix.com but did not receive any answers.

Thanks.

André

Hi Andre!

Multi-instance support.

Enterprise Edition allows multiple independent instances of the Scalix product to co-exist on a single server, each with its own user set, domain name, and message store. For all intents and purposes, each instance is its own mail server. Multi-instance support is beneficial if you are part of a central group that manages IT for legally separate entities.

Hello Subir,

thanks for the confirmation.

I already had seen that page, but in searching in the forums and other infos it was not completely clear if the global address book is independent for each instance. But probably that was some scalix 10.x infos.

We are looking into providing hosted scalix services, and there one physical/virtual server per company is too expensive for the small accounts. (5-20 Users)
But if we can host 5 companies/instances with each 5-20 users on one box, then it becomes a business case.

André
