Problem with omcpinu, moving mailbox from 10 to 11.

Hi All,

We're migrating from Scalix 10 to Scalix 11 (and in the processing moving to a new box). So we decided to omcpoutu each user and then omcpinu them on the new server.

All the users are managed by ldapsync (from ActiveDirectory), so the entries should match exactly.

All our users seem to have imported fine except one who has brackets in his common name:

Code: Select all

% sudo omcpinu -f shane_wells\ \(union\ offset\ printers\)
omcpinu : [OM.PM 3024] Cannot find user Shane Wells /mail,ipalm/CN=Shane Wells (Union Offset Printers).

If I do a omshowu -n "swells-union@IPALM.NET.AU", I get the following for username:

Code: Select all

User Name : Shane Wells_{Union_Offset_Printers} /CN=Shane Wells (Union Offset Printers)

So I guess the brackets in the user name are confusing it?

Is there any way I can convince omcpinu that this user is the one that matches the archive I'm importing?

I'd recommend that you copy /var/opt/scalix from the old box, and put it on the new box (remember to preserve the permissions). Then install Scalix 11, it'll find the message store and upgrade it.

This will be MUCH faster, and it'll preserve most of the settings from your current working install.

Make sure you upgrade to 11.0.2.1 There was a bug in 11.0.2 that will affect your install.

Thanks
Kev.

Hi,
The simplest way to import this user is to use sxmboximp, which is the Scalix 11 variant of omcpinu that does more stuff.

Code: Select all

sxmboximp -a <omcpinu_file> -u "CN=Shane Wells (Union Offset Printers)"

should do the trick.

Cheers - Richard

Thanks Richard. That worked perfectly!
