Fetchmail on-demand

Here is my situation:

I have fetchmail setup to grab the pop3 mail from our ISP every 5 minutes. It is currently configured to flush the grabbed email from of of the server.

The problem comes into play with users that are traveling part of the time and want to access their email remotely.

Ideally we would like to access the scalix server from the internet with a webmail connection but I do not know if that is possible. If anyone has any information alond this line, please let me know.

What I had in mind was to have a script that monitors when Outlook (with the Scalix connector installed) requests a send/receive. I see this as a means to triggering my Fetchmail command.

I do not know if this is possible or not but I would welcome any input.

Why not just give people access to webmail, and continue with the 5 minute check? That would mean allowing port 80 to your server.

Alternately, (assuming a MAPI connection) you could open port 5729 and just let them connect with Outlook.

Kev,

Thanks for the response. I had already come up with that solution about the webmail and have it working. What I am trying to figure out now is haw to setup SSL. I have my certificates created but I haven't figured out just where to put them.

I realize that this is most likely the wrong forum for this question but a tiny nudge in the right direction would be appreciated. In the mean time I will search on.

Thanks again.

If all you want is a nudge, perhaps this will work...

When I tried the link you provided I just get an empty screen. Could you check it accuracy? Thanks
