Is there a way to allow users to change their password without SAC or SWA? (and without administrative intervention).

I wish to allow POP access (not IMAP or SWA) to users, however, they should have the ability to change their own passwords when needed. Is there a utility or web page that I can provide that would allow users to change their passwords without using the SWA or without doing it manually myself?

Not really. You could likely set something up which uses ommodu in the background. But remember verify the user before letting them change their password, and that might be more difficult.

Yes there is.

Using the URL http://server.domain.com/Scalix/rw, you can call up the Rules Wizard outside of SWA. This also includes the ability to set the password.

This is fine, but my problem grows.

What it is I would like to do is provide users with an email that they can only access through POP. Other users would have SWA and POP access. I want users with POP only access to be able to change their passwords, but not necessarily be aware that there is an SWA server available.

I don't see a way to give particular users SWA & POP while restricting others to POP in the SAC. By using the http://server.domain.com/Scalix/rw savvy users then can become aware of the SWA server.

My main reasons for the not wanting the SWA available is because there seems to be no way to restrict the address list (GAL) in the SWA.

So the question is now... Is there a way to restrict (or completely disable) the Address list (GAL) but still allow users to use the SWA (Disabling the LDAP service in the SAC all together also disables the users contact list) ?

Is there an alternative to the Password change that would not potentially reveal the SWA?

1) You can use Outlook to change password from the Tools->Scalix Properties, assuming clients installed the connector

2) You can have users configure IMAP(POP) with any client software and change password that way.

3) You can prevent users from having access to SWA by accessing SAC:Users:Advanced and checking OFF the box [ ] User can use SWA

4) You can prevent users from showing up under the "System List" under SWA by accessing SAC:Users:Contact Info and checking OFF the box [ ] Display in address book, but this would required to be done to all users.

There may be other ways to accomplish a combination of scenarios.
Options 3) AND 2) may be the most elegant and simple.
