Umlauts

I am planing to upgrade my scalix 10 installation to 11.0.1, but before I do that there are some questions about version 11.0.1 and umlauts.
Are umlauts supported in user/mailbox names (CN)? If not, is it possible to change the way umlauts are converted (ü > u instead of ue) and how?
