Delayed or undelivered hotmail

We have a strange problem where hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk emails are very often delayed or are not delivered at all. The sender receives a notification that their email has been delayed and eventually it fails or the email is received anything from 4-12 hours after it was sent. We have contacted hotmail support who say it is a configuration error for the domain here, we get the same results for 2 seperate servers on different domains although they would be configured the same. A gmail account works perfectly.

I have enabled debugging on the smtpd service, sent a hotmail.com email but after 15 minutes there was no sign of anything relating to it in the log. Can't leave logging on for extended period as it is a busy server.

Scalix version 10.0.1.3, RHEL 4

Any advise on how to cure this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Simon

Hello,

I've seen a few similar postings with no replies. Did you ever figure this out? I suspect hotmail doesn't like my DNS record for whatever reason.

Did solve it and it wasn't a Scalix issue, we have a hardware security device which subscribes to a number of Sorbs and IP blacklists. Apparently one of the SORBS was somehow deliberately delaying any Microsoft domain emails. Not sure how this works but we disabled the check and mail was received normally.

Are you using a security device, if so check that first.
