omsendin and the sendmail.cf

Hi,

So i've been trying to setup up scalix to use my ISP smtp. My internal email address needs to be masqueraded (username and domain), otherwise it will not be accepted by the smtp.

I thought I had this right using genericstable, but on inspecting my sendmail log, it appears that it's ignoring the genericstable completely.

If my local user email address is myname@local.domain, and I want my from address for outgoing emails to be anothername@isp.com, how does scalix allow for this?

I have edited my sendmail.mc to use genericstable, as well as added my smarthost etc. and compiled with the command: m4 sendmail.mc > sendmail.cf.
Then, when I run omsendin to add the sendmail routines, it seems to take out the Smarthost pointer, so that instead of having 'DSsmtp.myisp.com' in my sendmail.cf as before running omsendin, I have 'DS ' afterwards.

Is this normal? If it is removing my smarthost line, is it removing other details too?

btw I'm using scalix 11 beta on OpenSuSe 10.1

thanks, Luke

Ok - so I added the DSname to the sendmail.cf without using the mc file, and now it all works...! How weird is that?

There is one last issue though: my subject now comes out as the first line of the email, and not in the subject field...? Any ideas?

Hmmm... what command line are you using to generate the mail?

Hello, I'm not intending to hijack your thread, but I'm having a similar problem...

I noticed that omsendin changes quite a lot in the sendmail.cf file, and after running it I just can't get my smarthost working. It relays fine, but I cannot tell sendmail to authenticate!!!

Previously I always used the access or auth-info file as described elsewhere on the forum, however this does not seem to work anymore on Suse 10.1, 64bit with SASL2 and Scalix 11... I can configure it with the YAST too as well as by hand, but after omsendin it's all gone... I was just hoping that I could get any pointers into the right direction... ;-)

Don't know why, but sendmail accounts for 99% of my trouble on linux... LOL... will I ever be able to figure it all out??? :-)

Thanks,

Clemens
