Scalix 11 appears to send incorrect recipient info

Hi,
I'm a linux/scalix (very) newb and I've spent the last week wrestling with Scalix attempting to get it setup. The problem that's got me really stumped is sending to my ISP from the local network.
Everytime I try to send (either from outlook using the connector or from the webmail page), the message sits in the unix queue and refuses to go any further, reporting a OM.UX 3000 error. To get the message out of the queue, I've had to stop scalix, point unix.mapper to a dummy script and restart scalix, which then allows me to clear the message stuck in processing, and then try something else and try again...same error, try again.
The confusing thing is, when I rebuild my sendmail.cf, I can send messages from the command line to my ISP without problems. Soon as I run omsendin to add the scalix routines I cant use the same sendmail.cf from the command line anymore - it tries to contact the recipients domain instead of my isp domain as I had specified in the sendmail.cf as a smarthost.
Does omsending corrupt my sendmail.cf somehow? Or have I set something wrong so that Scalix is supplying sendmail with the wrong recipeint data?
Thanks for you help,
Luke
