Auto-Forwarding question...

Postby smorin » Wed Jul 13, 2005 10:41 am

Good morning,

This is a question regarding auto-forwarding. Some of our users need to have all their incoming email sent to both their Scalix mailbox and also to an external address. The only way I have found to do that is to create a group with two members, one the Scalix mailbox and one the external email address. Mail is sent to that group's email address and then is forwarded to both.

Is it possible to assign an external email address to a scalix mailbox? I would rather not have to use a group for this.

For example:

All incoming email for user "John Doe", at "John.Doe@server.here" should come to his Scalix mailbox and also a copy to "johndoe@external.somewhere". Also the "John Doe" Scalix mailbox also has some additional aliases like "jdoe@server.here".

I think I found a way with the "Out of Office" options to set a forwarding address. The only quibble is that the original sender id is changed for the Scalix mailbox id which is forwarding. Is there a change in a .cfg file that can be done regarding this?

Thanks you,

- Stephen

Stephen,

what you're looking for is a REDIRECT (as opposed to a FORWARD). This can currently only be setup using the Scalix Rules Wizard or the sxaa command line tool that can be found in our admin_resource_subdirectory in the installation image.

you can set multiple redirects to multiple addresses, each will get a copy of the message.

Hope this helps,
Florian.

Thank you Florian for the info. This is just what I was looking for.
