I'm trying to figure out if there's a simple connection log in scalix - something along the lines of "userx connected at this date and time and used a POP email client." More information is fine, but I'm trying to at least get these basics. omshowlog doesn't seem to do this.

The feature you're looking for is auditing.

Take a look at the man page for omconfaud.
