RTF Emails won't display images (and TNEF question)

Hi,

I tried making an RTF email using Outlook (with Connector 10.0.0.352) with an image in it.

I sent it to myself.

This is where things got strange:
1. Inside SWA, the image is not displayed - theres a broken image icon there, if i right-click and "View Image" i see:

Code: Select all

HTTP Status 404 - /webmail/2_0_205_48e987_925300.jpg

type Status report

message /webmail/2_0_205_48e987_925300.jpg

description The requested resource (/webmail/2_0_205_48e987_925300.jpg) is not available.

It also says there is an "Attachment(s): attachment.jpg" (NOTE: the file WAS NOT called 'attachment.jpg'). If i try to click this, it tries to open in Microsoft Photo Editor but cannot and reports "Cannot determine file type".

2. Inside Outlook i got a broken image where it should be (i.e. the image is inline) and the icon is a small red-cross. The strange thing is, after i waiting 10 minutes and clicked back on it, the email and image appeared properly. However now its been another couple of minutes and it has reverted to the red-cross again. I tried sending another email to myself in the same way and am getting the red-cross.

Any explanation for this? or a fix???

Also, is there anything that needs to be done to get TNEF support once i've bought the Enterprise Edition licenses (I have 125 licenses).

Thanks

Jon

Works okay for me - just what you didn't want to hear

I tested this with Connector 10.1.0.270 and server 10.0.2.2 WindowsXPSP2, Olk 10.2627.2625 and selected RTF, attached one of the example pictures from MYPictures directory - to keep it simple - and sent this to myself (as you described). It arrived and I was able to click on the icon for the picture and it worked just fine in Outlook.

Opened up a webmail client on Mozilla, not even using Windows IE and could view the picture just fine. To be sure I also opened the webmail client in IE and same result, could see the picture and it wasn't renamed to anything but what I had set.

Check you /opt/scalix-tomcat/logs to see if a scalix-swa-log.date was created for the time of the failure of this message being viewed. If there is an error logged you could try posting the details of that log file and maybe one of the gurus will be able to tell what the problem is.

Or you could try the later Connector and check what patch level your server is on, update if necessary then give it another go. Oh, also check what Outlook you are using and the OS just to be sure you are working on a supported platform!
