Backup script - OMBACKUP - still valid for 11.x?

Hi all,

just a checkpoint before I go running an overnight script. Rather than a full filesystem backup, I'd like to move to backing up using the OMBACKUP script, but the last forum thread on this was in 2009, and I seems to have been written for Scalix 10.x

Is this script still functional for 11.x?

Thx.

I would use LVM to snapshot the data directory, then backup the snapshot (either to tape or rsync to another server that had a tape drive.) The downside is that to restore a particular user you had to restore the entire mail store to a test machine, and then export the users mail- eg. to a PST file- or make it accessible via IMAP. However, most "restore" issues for users was usually them deleting a message and needing the hidden deleted items folder made visible. I only had to restore mail from tape once.
