Scalix and scalability - large installations

Postby Alexander Boström » Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:36 am

Hello,

I'm interested in any experiences with running very large Scalix installations. Has it been done, and did it work well?

Something on the order of 1 TB of storage, 1 million incoming emails per day, 10000 unique users per day (a majority of which would use the web access) and 30000 accounts in the system.

Would it be reasonable to expect Scalix so manage this? What kind of hardware would be required and suggested?

Thank you,
/Alexander

It sounds like you're looking to provide Scalix as a hosting solution or at least for a larger organisation.

I would suggest that you contact our sales team so that they can work through your requirements with you.

Cheers

We are considering Scalix for a similar environment. Its for student body so there will be lots of mailbox creation/deletion. Is there any document or guide we could use to qualify if its a solution for us? Its too early to involve sales.

I don't know about a document or guide, but HP Openmail, which Scalix is the next iteration of, was used at the college I attended and worked ok (as far as I know).

Kinda nice to know my 20 users get that same kind of hard core programming/scalability.

I *do* encourage you to use our sales team. Some of our customer are educational institutes providing mail for students. Our sales team will be able to answer your questions. Heck, you know you already want Scalix, it's not as if they're going have to try to sell it to you ;-)

Cheers

Dave
