Some of my users have very large mailboxes (Outlook 2007).

So we chose File -> Archive and said "archive anything older than 6 months", choosing the top level so calendar entries and all that as well as email should be archived.
The archive is created, but the mailstore on Scalix remains the same size....
Did I do something wrong?

how big is the pst file?
did you have any emails in the pst?
when did you create the scalix account?

Using the Outlook connector. What I want is when they archive, the size of their mailstore on the server should be reduced.
That does not appear to be happening....

yes that´s SHOULD BE right but it could be that you archive nothing!

e.g outlook 2007 (without special patch) and outlook 2003 use the flag last modify date to archive the messages.
so how big is your pst?

or maybe you should fix the mailbox!

omscan -AvfxS -u "Firstname Lastname"
(be carefull with -S!)
you should shutdown rci and local delivery before your start omscan with -S

Hmm...we are running Outlook 2007. What is the special patch??

This is very interesting , I have the same problem
in scalix when I archived users mailstores
I can see in the Scalix application console that the size is reduce
but nothing is done in the server

Someone can help to delete all emails archived from the server
