Problems after Scalix restore

I have recently had to restore my Scalix fedora 4 system by copying /var/opt/scalix over to the new box-

Everything worked fine but I have now found that sometimes when I try to log into Scalix web access I get the error "There was a problem connecting to the mail server. Please try again later" But if I log on as the admin user it works fine - and if I leave logging in for several hours and try and log in later it works I have checked the account isn't locked and I have also tried to change the password.

One thing I did have to do when I did the restore was to preserve permissions by running the following 2 commands.

omcheck -i -s > /tmp/omcheck ; sh /tmp/omcheck
omcheck -d -s > /tmp/omcheck ; sh /tmp/omcheck

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m not sure what I have done wrong - thanks

Are you seeing anything in the /var/opt/scalix/logs/fatal log or the swa logs in /opt/scalix-tomcat/logs that correspond to the log on failure.

After the restore did you restart tomcat? Make sure you don't have any stale imap.d processes from before the restore.

Thanks Don - you were right there are alot of errors in the /var/opt/scalix/logs/fatal log

Ive now found that i can't login to my email at all now when i try to log into webmail i get the error "scalix appears to down" if i try the command omshut i get the following response:-

thanks a million spot on run the command omreset -o off all to shut Scalix down and then omrc to start it backup.

worked first time i can now log in fine no problems - and to think i was thinking about formatting it and losing all my data.

My Scalix box is working fine as i can now access my email fine but when i try to logon as the Scalix administrator i get the following error:-

Could not fetch configuration information possible problem with administration server



Are there any logs i should check - again thanks in advance

Please make sure your /etc/hosts contains an entry for your Scalix server in the form

ip address fqdn.domain.com shortname

Restart Tomcat after making any changes.

Thanks - i have checked and my host file is the following - i think its o.k is there anything else i could check as i can log in via webmail and access my emails fine :-
