What is upper size limit of inbox/all messages and upper number of inbox/all messages?

Some users have reached 5G+ and they started complaining that initializing outlook takes too long...

From the Releasenotes:

For Scalix 11, the limitations are 128K (=131072) items per folder (including subfolder entries, but NOT including subfolder items) and 32K (=32767) when Outlook is supposed to access the folder using Scalix Connect

This is the technical limit. Users will get an error once this limit is reached.
In your case the fact that Scalix Connect for Outlook will have to read all message headers when accessing a folder for the first time during a session will cause the delay.
The only workaround is to move messages that are not accessed frequently to other folders or to an archive.
