Strange Problem Accessing Large Mailbox

Hello:

I have a large (7 GB) mailbox of a premium user. No matter what client I use, I get some strange errors with it:

1. Thunderbird using IMAP -- 'connection to mail.mydomain.com timed out' -- the server and the client are on the same local net. Thunderbird does fetch most of the messages, and everytime I hit send recieve, it manages to fetch some more, but never the entire mailbox. Any operation leads to the same timeout message.

2. Webmail 'no header from SOAP request' (not exact wording, but the error is that the inbox folder refuses to load completely). Again, client and server are on the same local network.

3. Using omlist, I only get one message (the oldest message).

4. With Evolution, and the Scalix Connector, the entire system just times out. Edit: Seems it works, but extermely slowly, using Evolution.

Can someone tell me how I can access this mailbox properly?

Please tell me that mail store is properly organised and not all in the INBOX ...

I believe there is (or used to be) a limit of 32,000 or so messages in a folder before Outlook could access it. All the methods you listed, except for omlist, use IMAP to retrieve the mailbox, and you may be running into a limitiation there. Try it with Outlook and Scalix Connect and see if it can at least open the mail store?
