We've run into this problem before and in my tests of Scalix Server, it seems to be a prevailent problem that no one seems to have solved well.
Say I have 2 users with the same name:
William Brian Synonym
And the following display rule:
"Firstname Lastname"
The first user will obviously get the username. When I go to add the second user, I end up getting the appropriate error message...something to the effect of "A user with this name has already been assigned."
Usually when we run into this problem (and up until now, we've been using the "flastna##" rule, where "##" is a collision identifier which we have to add by hand.
Is there a way to get Scalix to offer up an alternative username so that the process of adding new users can be slightly streamlined. I don't expect it to be as much of a problem now as it has been in the past (since we hope to go to long names), but I may have to train other people to be able to do this, and it would help immensely if Scalix could do most of the work.
Lazy, I know, but how difficult would it be able to add a collision identifier to the display name and email address rules?
Thanks.
