scalix server = frontend sendmail, only handle calendar data

Is it possible to use Scalix as a frontend to sendmail, without migrating or copying any email data to the server running scalix?

From what I've been reading (Scalix Migration Guide) all examples deal with how to fully migrate to Scalix by actually copying email data to the server.

Can Scalix simply be used to handle calendaring and meeting (free/busy) data?

a workaround...

one workaround I'm considering is to have a separate set of accounts only for calendaring data.

So then each fo the Scalix-enabled Outlook clients (with Scalix Connect for Outlook installed) has two accounts installed per user.

Unfortunately the use of pop3/imap accounts alongside scalix connect isn't supported, see:

I have been able to get imap to work, I believe it is just POP that is not supported.
You gave me a slight heartattack, heh.
