Hi,

is it possible to synchronize Mailboxes from a Scalix System to an other. The second Scalix Server should have the same data like the first.

Thanks!!

Hi,

I guess rsync is really the easiest option to go about this, but are you looking at a cluster solution or what goal are you trying to achieve?

Yes, it should be a cluster solution. Some Users work sometimes on one location sometime on an other. This different locations are connected via VPN. We have configured a DIRSYNC between two scalix systems. But when the user work in the branch office and his mailbox is on the headquaters Scalix System the Outlook Program is very slow. Now we want to make this faster.

Or, do you have an other solution?

Thanks!!

Hello,

the roaming user performance will be greatly enhanced with the release of Smartcache. It would be best if you could get your hands on the beta that is running right now...

Sascha,
This is something we are interesting too. Our scenario is the same. We invesgtigate rsync, but avoided it because the data needed to be synched is very big for 2MB VPN connection, which we utilize with others, more important applications.

So, can we sneak the beta too ? Or just more info about this feature ?

And the questions comes... ;-)

About licensing of roaming user ? If it is roaming among 2 servers - then - is it needs 2 licenses or just one ?

Ivo,

I would recommend against using rsync for a distributed scenario. The product was not designed with that in mind and may respond unhappy when certain files are slowly popping up on the file system. Worst case, the message store could be destroyed. So clearly not a good route.

With regards to the licensing question, yes, you would require two licenses as these are two mailboxes.

I also would recommend sending mail to info at scalix dot com to get on the beta for Smartcache. This _is_ the solution for partially disconnected users or users on the edge of the LAN/WAN.

Cheers,

Sascha.
