License Key Question

Postby sneakza » Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:35 am

Hi,

We purchased a 50 user license and the domain in the licence differs to the one that I am going to use on the clients server... will this make a difference?

i.e. on the licenve it says domain: thisdomain.co.za

and im going to configure the scalix server to be thatdomain.co.za

Thanks.

You need a license with thatdomain.co.za.

Hi,

you just need to tell us all the domains you will be receiving mail for and then get a new license from us. The turnaround for generating licenses is very short.

If you need to speak to someone in sales, please send your contact information to support at scalix dot com and I'll have someone contact you.

Cheers,

Sascha.

The domains don't currently need to be in use for the license to work, but the domains you want do need to exist before the license will work. Hows that for confusing.

So lets say you currently have 2 domains.

domain1.com
domain2.com

Your company is planning to grow, and it will entail a third domain, but you're not sure what you'll call that domain. Maybe domain3.com, maybe domainc.com. I'd request a license that covers all 4 domains. That way, you work right now, and regardless of which route you go in the future, you're covered for that too. Since you'll generally renew the license every year, you could straighten that out a year down the road, and add any new potential domains (or remove domain1.com since you sold that branch of the company and don't need it any longer.) It's easier for you, and likely for support too, if you make one request that covers everything, rather than needing several requests.

Kev.
