Upgrade from 9.4 to 10.0.1 RES config error

Postby kanderson » Sun Jun 04, 2006 12:36 am

I'm trying to upgrade a second server to 10.0.1, and I'm having a problem with configuring the RES. The install is OK, clients are connecting, all is operationally good, at least for now. But administratively, the server is down.

The error seems to be during the creation of the administrative groups. I had that option unchecked, and I tried reconfiguring it a few additional times to confirm that it was unchecked. But the error indicates that it is trying to add them anyway. Not sure if it's a bug or what.

I will mention that I needed to do some OS upgrades to facilitate this upgrade (python in particular), but I have no local support for the machine, so I didn't restart it.

Any advice would be appreciated. I've posted the relevant portion of the log below.

Thanks
Kev.

Hi Kev,

"Failed to add "query admin" user sxqueryadmin@torlnxsclx.semcanada.com. /opt/scalix/bin/omaddu reported the following error: omaddu : [OM 6011] Duplicate Scalix userid specified when adding new user"

indicates it is unhappy with an existing user. I'll look at that upgrade scenario later, but please try this: delete sxqueryadmin on this box an rerun the install.

Cheers,

Sascha.

Hi Sascha.

That did it. I was just a bit paranoid about deleting a system user. I was also a bit confused because this should have been created as sxqueryadmin@clglnxsclx.semcanada.com, but it was complaining about sxqueryadmin@torlnxsclx.semcanada.com.

Whatever, it's up and working.

Thanks
Kev.
