PDL Manager

Howdy folks!
Stupid question here...What is the practical application of making someone a manager of a PDL? I tried to make myself a manager of a PDL hoping that would allow me to edit the PDL from the Outlook/Evolution addressbook (add/delete members) but that doesn't seem to be possible (AFAICT). So...am Imissing something or does being a PDL manager allow you to do something completely different?
