I cringe at the thought of doing this, but the management folks at my company have asked that I start reviewing the outbound email content from our company. Does anyone in is forum have any idea as to where I should start looking for this type of feature, hopefully in the SAC.

Thanks

Well you can view the SMTP logs which would be sendmail I believe.

For me thats /var/log/maillog.

Thank you John. That seems to get me the data of who sent messages when, but not what the content of the messge was. Anyone else know where I should dig?

Thanks

I think your only option is to look in the users actual mailstore and view the sent messages.

If they clean this out though I don't know that you have any real options (outside of a system archiving all email messages that leave your facility).

Hope you can find what your looking for.

Regards,
John

Hi,

you will not like to hear this I guess, but archiving messages is really an enterprise feature and as that, this needs to go thru normal support.

There is a way to do that, but it is undocumented for good reasons.

Please get in touch with support at scalix dot com.

Cheers,

Sascha.

Why do you need to examine the message content?

If it's to check for unsuitable content you might be able to use mailscanner to check for keywords. I'm not sure how it's done but I gather it's possible.
