Hi.
Just wondering.... how will scalix be cheaper than exchange? scalix license is $60/user whereas ms exchange is i think $54 or $56/user? Is the scalix user license one time or per year?
Any cost comparison between the two? :) I would like to see the justification on getting scalix instead of sticking with ms exchange :)
Thanks

Hi,
Scalix helps customers reduce costs in a number of areas: hardware, software, maintenance, migration and support. These cost savings are achieved through scalability that enables server consolidation, high reliability, reduced complexity, administrative ease and preservation of customers’ existing investments in email related applications and services. Customers can consolidate dozens, even hundreds of departmental email servers down to a few low-cost Linux email servers, reducing the overall cost and complexity of their email infrastructure.
What kind of savings are possible? Scalix’s customers report a 30-70% reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their email environment. For large enterprises, this means savings of millions of dollars per year
Looking at the cost of a single license does not give you a comprehensive picture. Having said that, we are still running a switcher campaign that gives you roughly a 50 per cent discount over the Exchange license cost. Please contact info at scalix dot com for more information.
Cheers,
Sascha.

Does the competetive licensing discount only apply to exchange?

Hmmm. I just posted another lengthy with the same question (sorry for the redundancy). I hope this is not the case as I can't see why you wouldn't try to get people from every server type (especially domino and groupwise people since they are probably the most active exchange migrators).
