Hsphere integration and QMAIL

Postby bangsters » Mon May 22, 2006 2:06 am

Hi.

My servers are currently deployed with hsphere control panel. Hsphere's default MTA is QMAIL, and I'm not sure if it's possible to replace qmail as the MTA due to the integration with the control panel. If I want to deploy scalix, how do I go about it? Does this mean I have a standalone scalix mailserver separate from my Qmail MTA, and to just point my mx to the scalix server? What about integration with hsphere or qmail, meaning if I setup a standalone scalix mailserver, then hsphere would not be able to monitor the bandwidth usage and email accounts in scalix. Would there be a way to install scalix and have it use qmail and integrate with hsphere? I want to deploy this for my webhosting customers :)

thanks!

Hi,

you most likely will not be able to replace qmail with sendmail without breaking it. So this option is out.

I recommend setting up a separate box running Scalix.

As a side note, the licensing terma explicitely state you cannot use our product for hosting purposes unless cleared with Scalix. If you would like to purchase a commercial license for service providers, please send a message to support at scalix dot com and I will forward your message to the appropriate folks.

We do provide monitoring and automation tools as well as integration into managements apps such as Nagios.

Cheers,

Sascha.

HI.

Already spoke with sales team. :)

When I meant hosting, I meant custom solution per client by offering scalix instead of exchange :)

As for now, I am deploying it for my staff. Since we have qmail on existing mailserver, what is the best approach to migrate to scalix? I have already installed scalix on a separate box, but I did not proceed yet to the setup of the email and domain.
