Scalix on VPS - is it possible?

Postby kmkeen71 » Wed May 03, 2006 8:29 am

Hello, Can I install the community version of scalix on a VPS? It appears that the VPS has all of the other requirements? Does it have to be installed on a dedicated?

Thanks,

mephisto

I'm successfully running Scalix in a production environment (40 users) using OpenVZ. It is the only VPS on the server and it has plenty of resources (1,5GB RAM). This works just fine.
I'm also testing it for private use (2-5 users) with a Virtuozzo based VPS hosted by a webspace provider. You need to make sure that you have at least 512 MB RAM guaranteed. Even with that you have to cut down the memory consumed by apache, tomcat, spamassassin, etc.
Bottom line is: it works, but you get what you paid for.

I though that some people here could find interesting this thread where
a buddy says that he managed to install Scalix in a VPS.

I'm running Scalix 11.3 (9 users) on a XEN-based virtual machine with 1,5GB RAM without problems. OS is opensuse 10.3, on a "vintage server" (4xPIII@700MHz, 4GBRAM) with 4 virtual machines. Performance is good. So give it a try...
