RAID Setup for Scalix Server

Hi Guys,

Hope this isn't posted in the wrong forum. I am setting up a Scalix server for our small business - 23 users on Outlook at present, but growing...

I aquired a Compay ProLiant ML530 Server, 2x 1Ghz Xeons, 2Gb Ram and 6x 18.2Gb SCSI 10k HDD's for the mailstore. I have plenty of free disc space on our fileserver.

So, here's my question, what RAID should I use on the Scalix mailstore, RAID 10 (offering 54Gb // ~2gb per user) or RAID 5 (offering 91Gb // ~4gb per user). I also understand that I can create archive.pst files on the fileserver for older email.

Will I benefit from the RAID 10 performance or is RAID 5 adequate (with the benefit of nearly 2x the space). Any one out there with some first hand expereince?

Thanks
jonny.

Jonny-
In my experience RAID 5 has been adequate, the speed has not been an issue for mail systems. If you have something like a SQL server, then I could see accepting the higher performance for less capacity with 1+0. IMHO you'll be well off with 5. But as with anything in the world of technology, a second oppinon couldn't hurt ;-)
