Scalix partitioning - specificly using LVM

Hi,

I am relatively new to LVM, and would like to use the Scalix software with the Scalix supplied backup scripts (in the admin directory of the package).

Is it better to make the mountpoint for the LVM folume the /var or to make a deparate LVM volume for /var/opt/scalix?

Should you make the partition the full size of the LVM, or leave some space for use with snapshots etc?

Any help gratefully received.
Thanks.
Andrew.

I would do the latter, but that's really up to you.

For one thing you need some free space for snapshots, and also the great thing about LVM is, that you can extend your partition with lvextend once you need more (as long as you have free hard drive space to extend the partition that is).
