Hi all,
I have a windows 2000 server SP4 with exchange server 2000 SP3 where AD is on and a scalix server on linux system, i would link the two systems and the idea is to manage scalix users from AD. I've installed the packages to do that but nothing new appear in AD console. Could you help me please ? Did I forget something ? Here what I do exactly :
1. run Scalix AD Schema Extensions.msi
2. lunch C:\Program Files\Scalix\Administration\ScalixForestPrep.exe
I have the update successful message and a new file appears in this folder :
ScalixADPages.dll
3. wait and restart the w2k server
4. Scalix AD GUI Extensions.msi
Thanks for your help.
Jean-Philippe.
P.S : I have a doubt because in the documentation the name of the packages are not exactly what I have.

Hi,
you need to be a domain administrator to add the extensions to the schema.
Are you saying you do not see the Scalix tab when you edit a user?
Cheers,
Sascha.

Hello,
on the workstation you are using to manage the domain, you need to register the DLL as well. Try running regsvr32.dll -i ScalixADPages.dll
Do you see the Scalix extensions using ADSIEdit under CN=Schema, CN=Configuration, CN=ScalixAdministrator, ... CN=ScalixEmailAddress, etc. ? If you cannot see them, run Scalixforestprep again and paste the output of it here.
Cheers,
Sascha.

To add to what Sascha was saying....
You need to be schema administrator to add the extensions to AD. This is even higher than a normal domain admin....

I tried to register the scalix dll with the command you gave to me : regsvr32.exe -i ScalixADPages.dll and i have an error :
"ScalixADPages.dll was loaded, but the DllInstall entry point was not found.
DllInstall may not be exported or a corrupt version of ScalixADPages.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove it."
Do you know what does it mean ?
Thanks,
Jean-Philippe.

The os where AD is installed is a windows server with sp4 and scalix is installed on a fedora core 4 linux distribution and i login in directly on the windows 2000 AD console. I tried the regsrv32.exe directly on the w2k server too but i always don't see the scalix tab on it.
Thanks,
Jean-philippe.

Hi,
yes, this definitely will be an issue. This has only been tested on an english OS. It very well might be localisation throws in some problems here. Try installing an english only test environment, maybe under VMWare. That will tell you if its a locale problem.
Thanks,
Sascha.

Hi,
i've just installed a UK version of windows 2000 server and I've the scalix tab directly in my AD console... it's confirm that my problem was a locale problem, the scalix extensions don't work with french windows server.
Thanks for your support,
Jean-Philippe.

* need to bring that issue on topic again *
Hi all,
we have a similar problem with the AD GUI extension. We got the latest evaluation package from Scalix. The installation went fine, but we are not able to enable the GUI plugin at our AD servers.
We use a "Windows 2003 Server (R2) english" installation. We've also tried to use a "normal" Windows 2003 Server installation (without the R2 pack). Its a native english installation.
The problem is always the same:
Whenever we install the "Scalix AD GUI Extension.msi", nothing happens at the MMC.
The installation runs fine without errors, but there is no Scalix tab and also no entry at the context menus ...
We tried to install it manually with "regsvr32 ScalixADPages.dll" but we get the following error message:
"DllRegisterServer in ScalixADPages failed. Return code was: 0x80029c4a"
We've also tried to use the command "scalixforestprep.exe --register" - no success. It says "Registration complete" - but there are no changes at the ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers"
The "scalixforestprep" command had also made trouble at the first step of installation:
We ran "scalixforestprep.exe --install" and the command respond with "Update Successful."
Then after the update period of the AD server we've checked the schema with ADSI and have seen the new Scalix extensions. That fine. But whenever we run "scalixforestprep" again, it says "No Scalix schmea extensions haven ben applied to this directory." Why?
Can someone point us to the right direction? The Active Directory integration would be a major point at our bying decision.
Thank you.
Hendrik
