Problem omscan

Postby PrisonMind » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:45 am

hi together

i have a question to omscan function.

i have set sxmaint with the option

Code: Select all

OMSCAN_OPTS="-a -f"

and omscan.cfg is set to

Code: Select all

"OPTIONS= -x -v -D 7 -r "22:00-06:00" -r "06:00-20:00@6-0"

# omscan -t
Last omscan tool run on 11.29.10 at 14:14:43; duration 22 minute(s).
Previous server cycle run on 11.22.10 at 22:00:10; duration 3201 minute(s).
Current server cycle not started; service reset or delayed.

i thought that the option -a -f should fix error like missing children and bad extension and so on automaticly.

but now i have check some mailbox by hand and they have errors.

1)why didn´t report omscan this?
2)why didn´t fix the omscan which starts with sxmaint this problems?

omscan does all that and more:
[q]
omscan reports, and optionally repairs, inconsistencies in the Message Store, the message queues, and the message lists. It also deletes temporary files
and "dead" lookup Directories, and reports the disk space used by each local user.
[/q]

but you have to be specific about what you want omscan to do.

If you have setup sxmaint correctly (see the man page) most of the basic stuff is done automagicly and i guess your settings are correct.

Remember that the omscan output is based on most recent run.. If you want to scan actively AND fix stuff you can do something like:

Code: Select all

omscan -Ax && omscan -af

can you give output of omscan -u (you can find any pending problems found in omscan there most of the times)

:edit
Kind regards,

Paul

hi,

but you have to be specific about what you want omscan to do.

for this i have set OMSCAN_OPTS="-a -f"

that´s exactly my problem!
why didn´t fix omscan -a -f this errors?

Remember that the omscan output is based on most recent run.. If you want to scan actively AND fix stuff you can do something like:
omscan -Ax && omscan -af

of course, but that´s exactly what scalix makes automaticly! with via sxmaint (passiv) and weekly omscan -A via omscan server cycle!
