Hello :-)

I'm an administrator of a small school network, we use scalix for calender and public folder for several stuff members.
the scalix works beautifully, but we also need to read an external mailboxes for some users.

I've found out (from reading answers in the forum) that outlook is not able to read pop and use scalix at the same profile, so...
1. can i periodically request scalix to retrieve mail from a specific mail boxes ? and put it into a specific scalix local mailboxes ?
2. can i use scalix to fw external mail to a smtp server ?

kindly,
nadav :-)

Hi Nadav,

answer is yes in both cases.

You can configure Scalix to retrieve eMail. This is best done using the fetchmail program that comes with your Linux distro.

Outbound eMail can be sent via your providers SMTP server; this is called s SmartHost configuration. search for smarthost on this forum. It is a sendmail-level configuration.

Cheers,
Florian.

thanks :-)
