Subscribe/Unsubscribe to folders in Thunderbird 1.5

In Thunderbird 1.5, Scalix CE 10:
Is it possible to unsubscribe or hide certain folders in Thunderbird? Specifically, I'd like to be able to hide the Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, Deleted Items folders. When I uncheck the Subscribe checkbox, the check mark goes away, but the folder remains. When I look at the subscription setting again, the check mark is back on. Have I missed something?
