SMTP Smarthost or alternate ports

Postby sgalahad » Thu Mar 30, 2006 3:32 pm

Hello,
So far I have read all topics, but I may have not had a complete understanding of them so I am posting the question.

Some users have the same problem other have with cable/dsl providers blocking 25. I read that smarthost is setup to work on 587 and configured to handle sendmail.

I edited the file /var/opt/scalix/smtpd.cfg and added the LISTEN_ON=587.

Great! I could now send mail out to the world bypassing the ISP restrictions on port 25. However, other mail servers could not deliver mail to the local mailboxes becuase it no longer listened on port 25.

I then removed the LISTEN_ON line and aded LISTEN=domain1.com:25,domain2.com:587...IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:25,IPXXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:587, 127.0.0.1...

Great! Email that wasn't getting recieved came in now that 25 was listening again and I assume there was a retry elsewhere.

Now I am getting 550's SPAM when I try to send.

What option did I miss here? Did I need to edit sendmail itself? I seem to get half working, but then I am missing something.

Do I need to add additional RELAY accept lines?

Thanks for your time.
