The smtpd process is partially aborting many times per day, we have a work around restarting it every 5 mins if required but it would be better to find the cause and stop this from happening.
I have captured an smtpd.log and this is what happens:
[2010-09-13 18:29:58] Cli 4123/1 got .
[2010-09-13 18:29:58] Cli 4123/1 unix.in back-end write failed: Broken pipe
[2010-09-13 18:29:58] Cli 4123/1 rcvd U: ´451 Process failed´
This error message continues until you stop and restart the process. You can get thousands of these last 2 lines if the process stops in the first of the 5 mins.
It does not appear to be a single message that is being received just prior to this error starting.
Anyone ever experienced this before or have any ideas how to fix this?
