Plain text wrapping and/or formatting

I thought this was just a weird Outlook thing, but it seems to be happening in SWA as well, so I thought I should post about it.

The problem I'm having is many plain text emails come through with the line breaks in odd places; as if the text is wrapping very badly.

Here's an example of what I see in SWA. The regular text seems fine, but when the sender tries to create some basic formatting, everything goes haywire:

This doesn't happen with all emails, I would say about 1/3 of the plain text emails come through like this. Back when we were still using our ISP for email, they come through like this:

Code: Select all

If you read the same message in Thunderbird, for example, what does it look like ?

Can you post the MIME for that particular body part ?

Cheers

Dave

I opened the same message via IMAP in Thunderbird and it looks the same.

I'm not certain what constitutes the MIME exactly, so here's the stuff before the actual message:

Code: Select all

X-Mailer: Microsoft CDO for Exchange 2000
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.1830
X-OriginalArrivalTime: 06 Mar 2006 22:16:19.0562 (UTC) FILETIME=[98177CA0:01C6416B]
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message
Content-Type: text/plain
Content-Disposition: inline

While looking at the source, I noticed that all the content is on a single line. Is that normal?

I was hoping to see the full content for the body part but you've explained that it all appears on one line.

You need to re-enable the SMTP debug logging like you did previously and trap a problem message so we can see if the problem is occurring before or after being received by Scalix.

Cheers

So, the issue is with the sending client.
