It seems to just happen with this single address. Once today, and twice in September. Many emails go to this address without issue.

I searched the Scalix man pages and found no mention of scalix_mime or 99 (in context of being an error code).

Not much info on sendmail exit value 99.

However, the log also shows timeout writing message to mail.ourdomain.com: Broken pipe, so I'm thinking network problem or system load. Or if the sender of the problem messages is always the same, perhaps the problem is on the sending end and it is not responding or maybe dropping a connection prematurely. But I'd focus on the timeout and the broken pipe.

Check syslog and dmesg for the same timeframe.

Nothing relevant in dmesg it seems.
The same sending domain sent email on all three occasions.
The "JavaMail" tag in the remote servers email ID seems irrelevant, as all emails in the logs have that tag get delievered correctly, including email from the domain in question (except for the 3 mentioned earlier).

It is odd that upon recieving an email sendmail/scalix cannot then deliver it immediately when a single flush of the mailq is done.
I colleague tells me that this latest email eventually delivered after a few more manual mail queue flushes.

The problem is occuring again, same source of email and same destination address.
The email is just sitting in the mail queue, it is failing to be delivered (locally) every hour.
