Not sure if this is the right forum.. but..


Is there any plans to support Entourage integration with the Scalix server? Is the SWA the only option for Mac enterprise users for calendaring?

There used to be a OSX port of Ximian Evolution, but it seems to be dead:

Maybe someone can pick it up and try to compile the connector for it.

Evolution for Mac. Interesting idea. I believe there is a Fink package for it. I'll try to install it under Fink.

Getting the Scalix connector to work with it will be tricky I think. I'll see how far I get.

ill volunteer to try the evolution connector for solaris10/sparc but i dont have my hopes up lol ;-)

Well, it turns out there is an Evolution in Fink for Panther but none for Tiger for some reason. I don't think I'll try battling compiling all of gnome to find out. I guess I'll stick to the web intefface :( :( :(

But ultimately it'd be nice if there was some kind of Entourage plugin or connector for Scalix.

Keep up your hopes. AFAIK, our engineering team has done this once themselves for an early development version of the connector and they claim it was pretty simple; due to limited market demand, we don't provide a build ourselves, but I think you should be able to get going with it.

I'm not saying we would do that if, but the fundamental problem with this is that Entourage does not provide a plugin architecture for this kind of plugin in the first place, so the initial step is to talk to the friends at Microsoft and convince them to upgrade the product on their side to be more open.
