Scalix data store on a different server (Novell).

Hi,

First off, please be kind when answering this question if it bothers you that much. With that being said, here it is:

Is it possible to place the /var/opt/scalix directory on a novell server with ncpfs help? I guess what I'm trying to ask is since I haven't been able to figure out how to hardlink to a directory located on a novell server using ncpfs, is there any config option that will allow scalix to look for a different directory for it's data store?

Thanks in advance.

Nader.

I have no experience with ncpfs, but did you try to mount the fs to /var/opt/scalix? Someone asked a similar question here:

To clarify this...

You can mount /var/opt/scalix on a different filesystem to the root filesystem. We recommend LVM for the convenience of snapshot backups. If you chose to use a SAN, that is fine.

However, we do not recommend a network filesystem like NFS as this has a very big performance impact due to latency and locking issues. Please do not consider mounting a NFS mount without network locking as we have found that this can lead to message store corruption.

Cheers

What, besides NFS, could be used to offload ~scalix to a NAS/SAN?

As Dave said above a SAN is fine as NFS is not used in that environment though it is in a NAS environment. A good place to start reading up on the differences between these technologies is at:
