ClamAV

Postby trig » Thu Jan 06, 2005 10:32 am

Hi,

Following the instructions in the Scalix Administration guide, I attempted to install ClamAV from tar.gz file listed on Clamav's website.
After installing, and confirming that the command could be run, I created the files needed in $SCALIX/rules and restarted Scalix just incase. When sending a mail through the system or trying to receive, the following error would appear in

#omshowlog

ERROR Service Router(Service Router) 06.01.05 13:33:25
[OM 5181] Reply timed out or invalid - Mapper protocol problem.
Command sent: SCAN:/var/opt/scalix/data/000000p/00001f5
Reply received: 504 anti-virus engine "ClamAV" exhibits unexpected behavior

And the mail would be lost. What version of Clam was the Administration guide written for?

Thank you in advance..

You should also check that the "clamav" user is part of the "scalix" group in /etc/group

Hi Dave @ Scalix,

I did follow those steps, and modify the lines in /etc/group. I thought it might be a permissions thing, but as I had already did them I can't see it being this..

Do you have a Scalix Ready PDF that you could upload and PM me the link to?

I don't have my hands on a URL right at the moment but you can test the permissions issue by doing the following:

1) Log in as root

2) Identify under file in /var/opt/scalix/data/ and run

clamdscan filename

This will report if clamd had problems accessing the file.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Trig,

Send an email message to ScalixReady@scalix.com with a request for which Tech Notes you need and they should be sent to you right away.
