Whats causing the SMTP Relay to stop?

A day or so ago the Service Router stopped. We determined it was due to a virus being discarded and having a mis-configured ALL-ROUTES file.

Now the SMTP Relay has stopped. I was able to restart it with no problem, but again, why did this happen?
