At present you can use PAM to configure LDAP-based authentication. This works fine with any LDAP-compliant directory (SunOne Directory server, Novell eDirectory, Openldap, even Active Directory). This is not to be confused with single-sign-on or kerberos-based authentication. This simply means the password entered through the email client would be validated against the password stored in the LDAP-compliant directory for that user.
In the next release (May/June timeframe) Scalix will provide kerberos v.5 support which means in Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory environments, users who log into the domain will gain access to their Scalix to email account without being prompted for username/password - if SSO is implemented.
Cheers.
