Moving from Scalix Community Edition to Xandrol Edition

Postby danian639 » Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:16 pm

I've been using Community edition for some time now and I'm moving to the xandros edition. How can I move my mailboxes over to xandros from the community edition?

Basically, you SHOULD be able to just copy over /var/opt/scalix/??/s from he old server to the new. But ideally, I'd personally want to rerun the installer after that. At minimum, run ompatchom after you get it copied over.

Do use omvers to check which version is running on each server. You'll want them to at least be the same major revision... (Don't move v10 data to a v11 server. And ESPECIALLY don't go the other direction).

One other option would be to create the users on Xandros, and then export the data from CE using sxmboxexp. Copy that dumpfile over to the Xandros server, and then use sxmboximp to copy it back in for the user. That's more work, but then you don't need to worry so much about versions and stuff. Basically, as long as they're both sx11, you'll be fine.

what about the uid/gid will I have to change those on Xandros or will ompatchom fix that?

If they're different, use :

omcheck -s -d > /tmp/permcheck.txt && bash /tmp/permcheck.txt

to fix it. They may be different, they may not. Note that this can take a long time to run on a large server.

Also note that the sxmboxexp will avoid this issue too.

I did everything you said and everything went well until I went back to xMC. It gave me a message saying Scalip admin password changed outside xMC. I tried resetting it but it doesnt work any ideas?
