Question - Distribution List

Postby stio » Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:07 am

Hi,

I've got a question.
We have some distribution lists where only some users should use them to send e-mail.
Can I set some delegations? With which command?

thx.

For PDL's a better set of commands is the om*aci series (omaddaci, omdelaci, ommodaci, omchkaci, omshowaci)

Edit: Heh, me and Mick was posting at the same time ;)

Hi Mike, Hi Valerion,

thanks for your answer.:-D I've read the manpage and test it.
But I think, I've made something wrong, that my settings does not working.

Any Ideas?

There are my settings:
omaddaci -l "All-Users" -n "User Test" -c "read modify"

-l = Name of the PDL
-n = Name of one User who can send to this PDL
All the other users shouldn't send mails to the PDL.

Thanks.

Regards,
Stio

Firstly, after adding the first ACI item, do a omshowaci. You will find that rights are automatically granted to the groups Administrators, Local and Default. Administrators are people with full admin capabilities (not just defined in SAC but system-wide), Local are all users locally created on the server and Default is for everone else. So you will first have to use omdelaci to remove rights for Local and Default, if they exist. Then you should add it for each user you want to be able to send to the PDL. If a user does not have Read cabability, he cannot see the memebers of the ACL either.

Just tested this on a clean mailstore, Read and Modify is all the permissions needed.

Hi Valarion,
first thanks for your description.
OK. Now I've deleted all aci's in my "Test-PDL"
omshowaci -l "All-Users"

Scalix Administrators none
Local Users none
Default none

In the adressbook I can't see the the pdl. That looks nice.
But Outlook generates a file sounds like *.nk2. In this file, you can see the pdl and send mails to this pdl. The user doesn't get an information like this: Access denied - you've not enough authorization to send mails to this pdl... What can I do?

Thanks

stio,

looks like the address has made its way into the nickname file. Not sure how you would remove that from everyone's nickname file.

The nk2 or nickname file is an outlook generated "cache" list which is per user, per profile.

That means every user on every pc has their own .nk2 file. And if you have multiple profiles or users on the same machine there are also multiple nk2 files.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to purge a record for everyone automatically. You need to sit at each machine and hand do it. the way you do it...

go to a new message, start typing in the address so it autocompletes from the cache, then hit delete to delete the entry.
