That is not an easy question.

Once the mail arrives in your mail box it will be deposited in a folder(s) which can be found by doing

Actually, only the top-level folders (INBOX, OUTBOX, Drafts, etc) are stored there. The rest is stored in /var/opt/scalix/??/s/data in a structure. I have even seen INBOX items in this path, so not everything goes straight in the user folder.

If you want to manipulate the files - I would advise against it. The mail store is pretty strict about keeping the links contained in it intact, and the messages are stored in a binary representation to help the server with access.
