Upgrade License Key

I have a new license key and need to install it. It is only an extended maintenance key, not adding any users. I tried using sac but the license didn't seem to install, ie, the lvid didn't update with the new date. Is this not the way to install an upgrade license?

Also, I have five servers. Do I need to install the new license on each of them?

Scalix 11.3
RHEL 4

TIA,
Lance

You will need the license on all 5 servers. You can do it via SAC (on all 5), or you can do it on the command line. Make a backup copy of the license in /var/opt/scalix/??/s/LicenseKeys/permanent.lic, replace it with the new key and run sxlicense -r.

Thanks Valerion,

Should I wait to do this after hours, or is it ok to do it now?

Should be OK to do it during work hours. I would normally recommend that both Scalix and tomcat be restarted after a license change, as not all the services pick it up correctly if you just do a sxlicense -r (especially SAC). However, it should be fine to run it this way until you can afford the downtime. The critical processes should work straight away.
