Wich mobile (os) should I buy for wireless sync? ***Solved**

Postby jbru » Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:22 pm

Hello,

I looked for a lot of posts in this forum, but they are all old ones, so maybe it has changed since version 11.3?

One of these days I will buy new mobile phones for me and my employees. I looked for a few models and I'm wondering wich one I can choose best.

Especially the OS is important I think. I can choose between Symbian or Windows Mobile 6.0

The things I want to do with the mobile is mobile synchronisation for the calendar over GPRS (not over bluetooth or something). I thought Windows Mobile needs a third party plugin. But does Symbian need it as well? And do I have to look for more critical points when connecting to a scalix server? (Nokia/Symbian uses PC Suite sync software on the PC, but I prefer wireless sync ovr GPRS, push or pull at set times) Or is it possible to sync the phone with a caldav calendar? I'm using Scalix 11.3

Tnx in advance

This is something Scalix can answer a lot better than I can right now. From information I managed to get so far (mostly in the forum), Scalix is working on ActiveSync over the air. Once this is completed, you should be able to connect via a ActiveSync application on your phone. I know UIQ3/Symbian ships with one, as does S60/Symbian and Windows Mobile AFAIK. Hopefully this will all be availble in the next release, if all goes well. Florian can give you better information, though.

Today, however, the only working solution is NotifyLink. I have a customer running it on WM devices and they are happy with it. For a complete device support list, I would suggest you contact Notify themselves (or a reseller) and see what they have to say.
