Sorry Kev

I tried all this before. In fact I tried an incredible number of things.

There is no way that I could find to add the following alias to a premium user ...
First Last" <first.last@domain.com>

... from the [Add Address] on SAC without having to add "domain.com" to the list of local domains first.

But if you add "domain.com" to the scalix server it now sucks in all emails to any user of the form user@domain.com, scalix already or not. That breaks the whole process. Even worst, on the scalix server you keep getting bounced emails telling you that nonscalixuser@domain.com doesn't exist, and often times they just go into a blackhole after being sent, and never make it to the main server or bounce a notification to the sender (probably a bug!).
Email between two Scalix users will stay on the Scalix server.

... that is not an option. I want to keep a copy of every inbound email to a Scalix user on the old server as well, for safety. Scalix users for now are being encouraged to cc themselves on all emails they send out just in case, and they still have the option to access the main server with our old friend SquirrelMail or Outlook/IMAP.

I'd like to find a solution for the calendar/notes issue on my previous scenario.

Thanks
Jaime

Are you a licensed user or community?

I believe licensed! We just bought the product and we have our own server. We did receive a license key an it has been installed.

I don't know what *community* is.

On the alias/domain name issue, do you know if there is a way to dissociate the 2, ie, edit some file somewhere by-hand amongst the many scalix configuration files to allow for adding "user@domain.com" and still NOT have scalix assume that it must respond to "domain.com" as a local-host-name?

That for sure would open the horizon on a couple of other things I could try.

You'd need to request a new license to add the domain scalixserver.domain.com as well as domain.com. Then you could add users in SAC with both domains.

Anyways, You have a solution that's working for you. I'm glad that it is. If you have any other issues, please don't hesitate to post again. Also thanks for the detailed post that indicated what you did to make the transition work for you in the end.

Thanks
Kev.

Hi Jaime,

How did u resolve this ?

I have tried a couple of things, but i am stuck now at using masquerading to rewrite the subdomain back to the original domain.

The only thing i dont like about it is the fact that mail to internal users goes to name@subdomain.domain.com ...
If i add internet users everything goes to the smart host but then scalix has some problems displaying the free/busy times for the users ...

No way to rewrite the TO field in sendmail right ?

I u have a solution please let me know...

WIth kind regards
Marco

This thread is pretty old. Can you please reitterate your problem in a new thread, so it isn't confused with Jaime's, and we'll look at it from there?

Thanks
Kev.
